NMW opened up the Springfield
Sports Show with an exciting event!
The first match of the night saw Eric Logan take on Rian Cruz. The new
attitude of Logan definitely showed, as Logan was very cheap in getting
the win, even using a chair on Cruz for no good reason!
Next up, Steven Bishop took on Sage Ramsey, with Steven E. Xavier in the
role of the special guest referee! As you can imagine, Xavier was not a
very fair ref towards Sage, and in the end, Bishop was able to take
advantage of the situation and score the win over Ramsey.
The Eagle Scout came to the ring next. He announced that it is time he
starts trying to earn more badges, and tonight he is going for the
"Outwrestle a Woman" badge. Does that even exist? Anyway, Cherry Malone
made her way to the ring to accept the Scout's challenge. But after only
9 seconds, Cherry was able to roll him up for the 1-2-3!! Shortly after,
Cherry rolled Scout up a second time and got another 3 count, much to
the amusement of the crowd!
Billy Morgan once again faced off against Donovan Cain. Cain, however,
was still unable to pull off a victory over Billy Morgan.
"The Forever Man" Guy Smith and LPC took on The Hybrids - Jason Lyte and
AC Powers in an awesome tag team bout! The newcomers to NMW held their
own very well against veterans LPC and Guy, but were unable to find the
win, as Guy and LPC were victorious!
Next, "Danger" Doug Fraze, one-half of NMW's Tag Team Champions, took on
"The Man" Matt Boston in singles action. It was a complete mismatch, as
Danger seems almost twice the size of Boston! But Boston certainly
proved that he could hold his own against the big man. Unfortunately for
Boston, that wasn't enough, as Danger was able to score the victory!
Jackie had been promising that Tricky would wrestle a real, live bear,
and that moment had finally come. Tricky stood in the ring, prepared for
the battle, when suddenly out comes Stan Sallinger, dress in a Winnie
the Pooh costume. Tricky made quick work of Sallinger, getting the pin
fall victory as Jackie threw a fit because he ordered a real bear, and
was stuck with this!
It now came time for the triple threat match for the NMW Heavyweight
Championship. "The Spotlight" Spencer Powers, "The Marvel" Shane
Matthews, and Michael Shard all squared off in the main event. It looked
like Spencer was about to pull off the win after hitting Shard with a
huge leg drop from the top rope! Shard amazing kicked out, so Spencer
went up top for a second, but was caught with a huge slam off the top
rope by The Marvel! But then, Shard threw Marvel out of the ring, and
stole the pin on Spencer to retain his title!
The show ended with a 22 man, over-the-top battle royal to determine the
#1 contendership to the NMW Championship. Sage Ramsey pulled it off, and
now has a chance to become the next NMW champ next month.
